BBB Cycling, the Dutch bicycle parts, components, and accessories brand, has launched its new FLUX performance eyewear technology. This is available on BBB Cycling’s new ‘Valor’ frames and the existing ‘Chester’ model.
The FLUX lens combines optical technology with advanced coatings. By actively filtering the light spectrum between red, green and blue wavelengths, the FLUX lens offers brightness and contrast, helping to deliver a sharp, clear view. In addition, the lens features 100% UV-A & UV-B protection alongside blue light and infrared light filtering, which shields the eyes from glare and harmful exposure.
BBB Cycling adds that… ‘On-bike performance is enhanced by providing a greater contrast between light and dark colours within the rider’s field of vision. This makes the separation of colours sharper, allowing the rider to perceive obstacles such as roots, holes and changes in terrain more quickly and with less ocular fatigue.’
The different coloured lenses enhance contrast to best suit specific riding disciplines and are sandwiched between two layers of anti-scratch coating to ensure longevity and protection from debris. Finally, an oleophobic coating is added on the outward facing side of the lens to resist water, mud and dust, while the inside is coated with an anti-fog treatment.
FLUX Red lens
Designed for road riders, this lens filters out warm tones to improve contrast on asphalt and cobblestones, with a 16.8% light transmission for optimal visibility in both sunny and cloudy conditions.
FLUX Blue lens
Offering the highest level of colour enhancement, this lens is more for gravel riders, boosting contrast on dirt paths while maintaining warmth and clarity under both sunny and shaded conditions. Light transmission: 14.6%.
FLUX Green lens
Built for trail riders, this lens maximises contrast on brown and yellow terrain, making it easier to spot roots, rocks, and obstacles. Enhanced green tones help separate the trail from the forest, with a 16% light transmission for balanced visibility in all conditions.
FLUX Pure lens
Positioned as an all-rounder, this lens delivers enhanced contrast across all riding disciplines. With a 12.5% light transmission, it’s optimized for brighter conditions yet remains adaptable to cloudy skies and forested trails.
Valor FLUX eywear
Being unveiled alongside the FLUX lens is the ‘Valor’, a new lightweight performance eyewear offering. Tipping the scales at just 30g, the half-rim frames are crafted with Rilsan G850, a 45% bio-based nylon derived from castor beans.
The Valor FLUX package includes a spare clear lens for varying light conditions and a durable hard case to ensure protection while being stored. The Valor FLUX retails for €129.99 / £99.99.
