Jon Wyatt confirmed as new Secretary General at World Triathlon

World Triathlon has confirmed the appointment of Jon Wyatt as its new Secretary General. Following an exhaustive selection process that evaluated over a hundred candidates, his appointment has received the unanimous approval of the World Triathlon Executive Board.

Wyatt will officially assume his new role in early August, once he concludes his current position with the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Jon Wyatt previously served as the Interim Senior Director and Director of Sport and Sustainability at the International Hockey Federation (FIH). World Triathlon notes that he is a… ‘commercially oriented leader with over 20 years of expertise in sports marketing, business development, and strategic management, coupled with an additional seven years in international sports administration.’

He is a two-time Olympian, a strategic consultant with Accenture, and has worked extensively across multiple sectors – including Olympic international federation sports administration, sports marketing, and commercial partnerships.

In his new role, Wyatt will focus on implementing the organizational changes desired by the President and the Executive Board of World Triathlon, to promote sustainable growth and inclusivity at all levels of triathlon worldwide.

He will also play a key role in executing the new commercial strategies developed through the comprehensive commercial study that Deloitte is currently preparing for triathlon’s international governing body.

A new organizational structure will be implemented, aligned with the organization’s future goals and its upcoming commercial and marketing strategies.

“We are delighted to welcome Jon as our new Secretary General,” said Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon. “He will be instrumental in implementing the transformative changes currently underway in triathlon.

“His extensive experience in sports organizations, particularly on the commercial and event management sides, will be invaluable in helping us achieve our strategic objectives. We look forward to working closely with him and the entire triathlon community as we move forward with these exciting developments.”

Jon Wyatt said “I am honoured to join World Triathlon and look forward to working with the talented team to further develop the sport globally. Together, we will pursue innovative strategies to enhance the athlete experience, increase participation, and expand our reach across the world.”
