IRONMAN has reported that more than 7,000 individuals have already secured entries for IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 European races in 2026, with early registration demand outpacing previous years.
With further race openings scheduled over the coming weeks, event organisers in Europe are encouraging athletes to act swiftly to confirm their registration slots.
IRONMAN added that general registration for spring 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 events – including IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia, IRONMAN 70.3 Venice-Jesolo, IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca, and IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence – saw such high demand that it briefly caused a system outage.
Within just over 24 hours, IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca and IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia drew more than 2,000 registrations combined, with the latter already nearing 50% capacity.
The IRONMAN Hamburg European Championship triathlon, which opened for 2026 entries two weeks ago, has reportedly experienced an 85% increase in registrations compared to the same time last year. IRONMAN added that over half of those registered are taking on their first full-distance IRONMAN, with German athletes making up a large portion. Among new starters, female participation has also surged – up by 70% – with three-quarters of female registrants identifying as first timers.
The spike in interest in Germany has been partly attributed to the performance of reigning IRONMAN World Champion Laura Philipp, who set a new course best in Hamburg this year.
“It’s incredible to see a strong growth in athlete registrations across Europe, particularly among first timers and a younger generation of triathletes,” said Thomas Veje Olsen, Managing Director of The IRONMAN Group in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“Early-season races are a great way to get a taste of IRONMAN in exciting locations – and often have the bonus of slightly cooler race conditions.”
