The 2025 Paradox IRONMAN Arizona triathlon returns to the Salt River Valley, with IRONMAN reporting over 2,000 registered athletes set to take on the final edition of the longstanding IRONMAN event.
Back in September, it was confirmed that, after 21 years of events in Tempe, Arizona, this year’s IRONMAN Arizona will host its final triathlon. The last event will take place on November 16, 2025.
IRONMAN noted that the decision came amidst extensive construction along portions of the bike course, making it a challenge to find a viable area to host the course.
The race weekend kicks off on Thursday, November 13, with athlete check-in at the IRONMAN Village Expo located at 80 W Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ. On Sunday, November 16, athletes will begin their IRONMAN journey throughout Tempe and the greater Phoenix area.
The 2025 Paradox IRONMAN Arizona triathlon course will take athletes on a journey through the Valley of the Sun. Athletes will begin their race with a 2.4-mile swim in Tempe Town Lake.
After exiting the swim, athletes will take on a three-loop, 112-mile bike course that begins on the Beeline Highway, followed by a climb to the turnaround before heading back to transition.
Athletes will embark on the final leg with a two-loop 26.2-mile run along the banks of Tempe Town Lake. Runners will head through Papago Park and along Rio Salado Parkway before finishing at Tempe Beach Park.
A field of top professionals from around the globe, including Sam Long (USA), Joe Skipper (GBR), Rasmus Svenningsson (SWE), Trevor Foley (USA), Alice Alberts (USA), Stephanie Clutterbuck (GBR), Annamarie Strehlow (USA), and Elisabetta Curridori (ITA), among others, will contend for a professional prize purse of US$100,000.
This year, the IRONMAN Foundation is also distributing over US$60,000 in charitable giveback to local organisations within the Tempe region, bringing the total historical giveback to over US$1.4 million.
