IRONMAN and local event organiser SBR Sports have announced that Barranquilla, Colombia, will be the newest host location for an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon. The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Barranquilla event will take place on June 7, 2026.
Known as Colombia’s Golden Gate, Barranquilla is the country’s fourth-largest city and is a major port and cultural hub on the Caribbean coast.

Wilber Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of SBR Sports, which owns and operates the new event, said “We are excited to bring an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon to Barranquilla and mark a historic moment for the city, the athletes, and all visitors.
“This event is a strategic step in continuing to consolidate the IRONMAN brand in Colombia and strengthening the development of sport in the region.”
Anderson added that the event is a celebration of passion, discipline, and resilience, and will promote sustainability initiatives and sports tourism.
The race will begin with a 1.9km swim at the beaches of Puerto Mocho. This will be followed by a 90km bike course along the Circunvalar de la Prosperidad. The event concludes with a 21km run along the Gran Malecón del Río boardwalk.
The run route passes landmarks, such as the Shakira statue, the Sofía Vergara sculpture, the Plaza de los Marinos, and the Shark Fin monument. Athletes will also see the Luna del Río, a 65m Ferris wheel.
IRONMAN 70.3 Barranquilla will offer qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon, which is set to take place in Nice, France, on September 12-13, 2026.
General registration opened on December 10, 2025.
