USA Triathlon (USAT) has released its 2025 Impact Report, detailing the organisation’s strategic growth and progress toward the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This marks the second year the report has been published by the national governing body, following a roadmap set out in its Elevate 2028: Focus Forward strategic plan.
In 2025, the US-based national governing body reported a shift in its membership demographic, with athletes aged 20–39 now representing the largest group. The 20–29 age bracket led this growth with an increase of nearly 20%, two-thirds of whom were new to the sport of triathlon.
Total participation was supported by a rise in sanctioned events, which grew to 829 from 824 in the previous year. According to USAT, shorter-distance racing and alternative formats such as aquathlon and duathlon have helped move participation levels closer to pre-pandemic figures.
Key membership and event highlights by USAT from its report include:
- 303,000 unique active members in 2025
- 73% of participants opted for shorter formats such as Super Sprint, Sprint, and Olympic distances
- 487 race directors active in 2025, up from 471 in 2024
- Female participation among youth athletes reached 44%.
On the international stage, US elite and paratriathletes secured 110 medals during the 2025 season, including 36 gold medals. Seven of these medals were earned at the Para World Championships. Preparation for the 2028 home games in Los Angeles has already commenced, including course familiarisation camps at Venice Beach, CA.
The USA Triathlon Foundation, the charitable arm of the organisation, reported US$4.2 million raised and pledged from more than 2,500 donors. These funds supported various initiatives, including the Mallow U25 Development Team and the inaugural Gwen Jorgensen Scholarship Fund, which awarded 10 scholarships to youth athletes.
Community engagement remained a priority, with USAT’s National Championship events held at 11 locations across the US, and State Championships taking place in 47 states. The Youth State Series reportedly reached over 14,500 participants across 22 states.
The organisation’s report also noted investments in industry infrastructure, including an enhanced Race Director Certification Program and a migration to an integrated Salesforce ecosystem to improve operations.
