Ironman is giving something back to heartland America. The Ironman Community Fund, a part of the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) has reportedly awarded US$15,000 (€11,090) in grants to a wide range of organisations across North Idaho.
Not all organisations appear to be directly involved in triathlon. Although, the city of Coeur d’Alene in the Idaho Panhandle is a clear beneficiary – in recognition of WTC’s links via the Ford Ironman Coeur d’Alene triathlon.
The fund placed a heavy emphasis on providing youth sports opportunities, as a means of spreading goodwill to those people impacted by the Ironman race in Coeur d’Alene.
Local groups receiving grants include: Boy Scouts of America Camp Easton; city of Coeur d’Alene Recreation Department; Coeur d’Alene Youth Triathlon; Fernan Elementary; city of Hayden Recreation Department; Hayden Meadows Elementary School; Kroc Center; Mullan Trail Elementary School; Ponderosa Elementary School; Post Falls School District 273 District Meet; Prairie View Elementary School; Ramsey Elementary School; Seltice Way Elementary School; Specialized Needs Recreation Camp Allstars; and West Ridge Elementary School.
