According to a report by Bloomberg, New York City Triathlon officials are requiring all 2012 entrants to the New York City Triathlon event to commit to completing an open water swim of at least a half mile within 18 months of the event. This follows the deaths of two competitors in the 2011 race.
The 12th annual NYC Triathlon takes place on Saturday 11 August 2012.
