Rolf Prima, the Eugene, Oregon, based premium bicycle wheel manufacturer, will again be the title sponsor for the ‘Tri at the Grove’, a Sprint and Olympic distance triathlon for individuals and relay teams, at Cottage Grove Lake on 28 July 2012.
Rolf Prima owner Brian Roddy noted that the company is pleased to be the triathlon event sponsor. “We love this race,” he said. “It’s a great venue and it supports the local racing community. We know the racers love it too because we have participants asking us about it already – 8 months before race day.”
The inaugural Tri at the Grove race held in July 2011 sold out early and brought over 250 professional and amateur triathletes together from around the US. The overall male and female champions for the 2011 Olympic distance race were Tim Dodson from Portland and Angie Smith from Salem. The 2011 overall male and female champions for the Sprint distance race were John Howe from Eugene and Kristina Lackner from Sherwood, Oregon.
Registration for the 300-plus slots available for the July 2012 race will open in early February 2012. Race organizers expect the race to again fill quickly. As with the 2011 race, Tri at the Grove title sponsor Rolf Prima will host the pre-race packet pickup and social, with a Q&A session with professional triathletes the day before the event.
The 2011 race was supported by over 100 volunteers from the community. Race organizer Steve Cash of dark30 sports, a Eugene event promotion company, said he is already lining up volunteers for the July 2012 race. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact volunteer[at]dark30sports.com.
