Leonard Cheshire Disability, the charity behind the ground-breaking (and award winning) Tri Together triathlon, has been short-listed to be the next charity partner for Lloyds Banking Group. This partnership would secure valuable funding for the charity’s work to support disabled people to live independent lives – likely to be in the region of £2 million!
The choice of charity will be down to people who work for Lloyds Banking Group, which includes:
- Lloyds TSB
- Halifax
- Bank of Scotland
- Scottish Widows
- C&G Cheltenham & Gloucester
- St Andrews
- St James’ Place Bank
Spread the word!
To help raise the profile of the Tri Together series and the great work done by Leonard Cheshire Disability, the organisers are asking for help to spread the word. Triathletes, tri fans and others can:
- Email friends and family to see if they know anyone who works for Lloyds Banking Group and ask them to vote for Leonard Cheshire Disability
- Put a message on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media, along the lines of… “Do you know someone who works for Lloyds Banking Group – please ask them to vote for Leonard Cheshire Disability to be their next charity partner”
- Those who bank with any Lloyds Banking Group companies can pop into a branch and mention the great done by the charity and ask them to support Leonard Cheshire Disability in the staff vote
The vote by Lloyds Banking Group staff will run from Monday 10 December until Monday 17 December. There are only 2 charities in the running, so every vote counts!
Tri Together is an award winning triathlon for people of all ages and abilities to swim, bike and run together. The event recently won the Professional Event of the Year (private company) award from Triathlon London, and is a previous 220 Triathlon Awards winner.
Due to the continued success of Tri Together at Crystal Palace, London, the charity is now expanding Tri Together from one event to three in 2013. The three events next year are in London, Lancaster and Glasgow.
All Tri Together events are open to disabled and non-disabled people and are ideal for everyone – from the complete beginner to the seasoned triathlete. Giving competitors a unique experience, athletes can take part on their own, in relay teams of twos or three, or get the whole family involved with junior races open to those aged 8 and over.
