TriStar has unveiled the 2013 dates of two of its most popular races in Europe. TriStar Cannes and TriStar Lyon 2013 registrations are officially open. Cannes will host the second edition of its international triathlon on 14 April 2013 – positioned as an opening for the European triathlon season. TriStar Lyon will take place on 30 June, in the heart of the city of light.
TriStar Cannes 2013
TriStar Cannes will be held in the capital of cinema for the second time on 14 April, offering a glamorous prelude for the forthcoming 2013 season. This will be one of the earliest triathlon events in Europe, with one of the most demanding and unique bike courses in France, bringing an opportunity for athletes and their families to enjoy the charming Mediterranean town. The finish-line of TriStar55.5 and TriStar111 Cannes will be located just a stone’s throw away from the famous venue of the film festival.
Several new features and improvements have been put in place for the 2013 edition, starting with a new race venue: Verdun Square. Located between the beach of Palm Beach and Port Canto, this area will bring together the Star&Co expo village, the finish line and the bike park.
The swim part will take place in the Mediterranean, starting from Ecrin beach and facing the islands of Lérins. The run course will take place on the iconic Croisette, fully occupying its southern part. The improved bike course, keeping the feeling and profile of the 2012 edition, will shortly be presented in detail by the race organisers.
TriStar Lyon 2013
Lyon, the third largest city in France will host TriStar on 30 June, in the heart of its new district – La Confluence. As in 2012, there will be two formats available to the triathletes: TriStar111 and TriStar55.5.
The 111K long race starts with a 1K swim in the docks of La Confluence. Here, fans, friends and family can follow their athletes during the entire swim leg and transition. The 100K bike leg crosses the mountains of Lyon with the famous Col de la Croix. The run and the finish line will be located in the heart of the Lyon peninsula, in the district of La Confluence.
TriStar55.5 shares the course profile, offering a shorter 500m swim, 50K bike and 5K run.
La Confluence in Lyon will host the TriStar triathlon for the second time. With its ultra-modern infrastructure, its docks and quays lined with houseboats, the new district of Lyon was reportedly well-received by the competing triathletes in 2012.
As a new feature in the 2013 edition, the organizers have prepared a one-day introduction to triathlon on Saturday 29 June. This day will give an opportunity to those curious about triathlon to find out more ‘in a festive atmosphere’. More information on this will be announced in the coming weeks…
