Chobani Yoghurt has been announced as the sponsor of The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon, 2013. As one of America’s most loved yoghurts, the brand was recently launched in the UK. Chobani strained yoghurt is to be ‘the official fuel provider’ of the charity tri event devised by the Formula 1 driver, a keen triathlete, to raise money for good causes.
This year’s event will allow 750 triathletes to race against the Formula 1 driver in a sprint triathlon. It will once again be in support of Help for Heroes and takes place on 14 July at the Luton Hoo estate in Bedfordshire.
Chobani will be fuelling and re-fuelling competitors and spectators on the day with its range of seven flavours, as well as some special, exclusive yoghurt creations.
“The most effective refuelling occurs within 0-30 minutes after exercise, and eating simple, high protein and nourishing foods help the best recovery,” said Kara Lydon, RD, LDN, Health Communications Manager of Chobani.
Chobani is positioned as a great post-workout snack thanks to its generous protein content. It is crafted using a special straining process that removes the whey and fat. It takes three litres of milk to make one litre of Chobani, resulting in ‘a deliciously thick, creamy texture that boasts two times more protein per serving than regular yoghurt.’
Jenson Button said “I’m delighted that Chobani are supporting the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon and providing fuel for our competitors. Triathletes are a notoriously hungry bunch, so I know it will be very much appreciated!”
Christine Fung, UK Communications & Marketing Manager at Chobani added “We’re delighted to be providing the fuel for The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon. We’ve received fantastic feedback from the sporting community since we arrived here in the UK and this event is a perfect fit for us.
“Chobani will be on hand at the finish line to ensure competitors recover effectively with a delicious snack that’s packed with protein.”
Every pot of Chobani is 0% fat and contains no artificial preservatives or sweeteners and is made with only naturally sourced ingredients. Chobani first launched in the UK in September 2012, and is now available in seven delicious fat free varieties – Strawberry, Peach, Black Cherry, Raspberry, Blood Orange, Pomegranate and Plain.
Chobani is available in selected Tesco stores across the UK, with a RRP of £0.89/170g pot and £2.00/454g pot. Flavour selection will vary by store.
