Beauty and the beast at Idroman 2013

With the catchy strapline ‘alive in hell’, entries are still open for the seventh edition of Idroman, scheduled for 22-23 June on Lake Idro in Brescia, northern Italy.

Lake Idro is an Italian glacial lake situated largely within the Province of Brescia and in part in Trentino. At 368m above sea level it is the highest of the Lombard pre-alpine lakes. The race organisers, Triathlonlecco and Spartacus Events point out that the three races on offer – Sprint, Olympic and Middle tri distances – ‘have in common an amazing landscape and hard courses.’

The organisers point out that ‘the bike course is quite frightening, more than any other in Italy and the 15% rising roads link the lakes of Idro, Valvestino and Garda.’ With brutal climbing on offer, triathletes will be rewarded with the beautiful waters of Idro, the green of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park and the landscape of the Benaco area.

The starting lists for all three race formats include ‘the bravest Italians’, alongside a number of foreign athletes travelling from Germany, Switzerland, Russia and France to take on the ride to hell and the rewards of scenery from heaven!

The organization engines of Triathlonlecco/Spartacus are now getting into gear for the Idroman event this June. The race director’s team are working closely with local authorities in Idro, Capovalle, Valvestino, Gargnano, Magasa and the community of Montana Alto Parco Bresciano, the Land Office of Lago d’Idro-Valle Sabbia and several other local associations.

The Idroman organisational machinery is also working with a variety of accommodation providers in the area – from hotels, villas, pensions, bed & breakfast and farm holiday stays. The all-new swimming centre Narciso Idronuoto, will also be available before and after the race for rest and relaxation.

Entries are still open for events on both Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June.
