Ben De Wolf is new Sports Director at Uplace BMC Pro Triathlon Team

The Uplace BMC Pro Triathlon Team has welcomed back Ben De Wolf – who will become the team’s Sports Director on 1 October 2013.

Ben served as Team Manager of the Uplace Pro Triathlon Team from 2010 until the end of 2012. Returning back to the team for 2013 onwards, he is back on board with triathlon having just left the Club Bruges football team, where he was part of the athletic support staff.

As the Sports Director, Ben will be responsible for all athletic and logistical support. He will oversee the athletic development of the athletes and ensure they receive the best support for their training and racing needs.

Ben’s appointment as Sports Director is seen as an important step in the development of the international Uplace BMC Pro Triathlon Team. He will start in October to support the Uplace athletes as they head to the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. After Kona, he will focus his attention on optimizing the athletic support structure of the team, which will be operating at full capacity from January 2014.

Bob De Wolf, Team Manager and Ben’s brother, underlined the importance of this new role, “The Uplace BMC Pro Triathlon Team wants to be the best triathlon team in the world. The role of Sports Director is an important part of the structure we have set up to realize these ambitions. Ben has the experience and the sports-scientific expertise to help lift the team to a higher level. We are happy he decided to re-join us.”

Ben De Wolf is equally enthusiastic about his return to an old love. “I started in 2010, doing training support for Bruno Clerbout and eventually helping start the Uplace Pro Triathlon Team. With the Uplace BMC Pro Triathlon Team, the project becomes an international, even more professional one. It’s a truly remarkable feat. I am looking forward to playing my part in realizing this wonderful endeavour.”
