Leonard Cheshire Disability and Bonk Triathlon launch Facebook competition

UK event organiser Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD) and triathlon clothing supplier Bonk have joined forces to launch a competition on Facebook, giving triathletes the chance to win £175 worth of clothing goodies.

Triathlon beginners and regulars have until 17 March to share their embarrassing or inspiring training stories about how they have run out of energy during training or a competition, a term otherwise known as to ‘bonk’ in the triathlon world. Participants can post their stories on LCD’s Tri Together Facebook page.

The stories will then be narrowed down to the top three as chosen by Tri Together and then it’s up to the public to decide! The story that receives the most likes and shares combined by the end of March will be crowned the winner.

Bonk was founded in 2011 by Charlie Evans, a triathlete whose life has been changed positively since discovering the sport back in 2008. It was his own love of triathlon that inspired him to launch a clothing brand dedicated to the swim, bike, run lifestyle.

Bonk is also supporting Leonard Cheshire Disability’s Tri Together events in 2013. Tri Together is a unique short distance triathlon open to people of all ages and abilities to swim, bike and run together. Following the success of the award-winning Tri Together 2012, when over £70,000 was raised, the event is expanding to two new locations this year: Lancaster and Glasgow.

To meet popular demand, Leonard Cheshire Disability has also lowered the entry age so children from the age of eight can now sign up for one of the five junior races. Tri Together Lancaster, in partnership with COLT Triathlon Club and Lancaster City Council, will take place on Sunday 7 July at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre.

Tri Together London, in partnership with GLL, returns for a third year to Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Sunday 1 September. Tri Together Glasgow, in partnership with triathlonscotland, will take place on Sunday 22 September at Bellahouston Sports Centre.

Race entry is from £22 for adults and £10 for children and minimum sponsorship applies.
