More than 200 people attended a party on Friday 25 January that kicked-off the season for Team Forhans in Italy. In addition to an unveiling of the various team athletes and a show-and-tell for journalists and sponsors, the evening was also attended by some notable sporting guests. These included Italian ultra marathoner Giorgio Calcaterra, and cycling brothers Petito and Luigi Sestili.
2013 will be an important year for the Forhans Team, as the multisport team founded by Team President Gianluca Calfapietra celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Forhans Cup duathlon and triathlon series in Italy, which each year attracts thousands of participants.
“This year we will continue the organization of the half marathon in Lake Vico (with 1500 already registered to take part) and we will arrange another half marathon in Rieti,” Calfapietra said. “Meanwhile, in cycling, we are the promoters of the Granfondo Cammino di Francesco, scheduled for 26 May.”
The commitments of Team Forhans will not be limited to the organization of events. The racing team has in fact already reached 400 members this year. In its three main sections – triathlon, running and cycling – the aim is to carry on the commitment of competitive activity.
“Triathlon will continue to be supported for ‘amateur’ age groupers alongside the male and female elite team,” added Calfapietra. “This puts us in a position to fight for ambitious results.”
To push forward with the pro triathlon activities of Team Forhans, after a year off, the team manager is Fabio Giannini. He will have the role of coordinating the activities of the strong formation of the team across Italy and overseas.
