Wattbike has unveiled a raft of new developments to its indoor bike including enhanced connectivity to popular training devices and online diaries, in addition to new testing protocols.
The new wireless connectivity features enable the rider to capture live training data from the Wattbike, including power, speed, heart rate and cadence, to their personal ANT+ enabled device. This then allows easy upload to popular online training diaries including GarminConnect, Strava, MapMyTracks and Training Peaks.
Leading the way in power-measurement for cyclists and triathletes, the Wattbike measures over 40 performance parameters to ‘an unrivalled level of scientific accuracy’, giving riders the ability to analyse their performance to levels previously only available to elite level athletes.
Wattbike’s innovate features include right/left leg power percentages, analysis of power curves and a range of test results based on power and heart rate.
ANT+ connectivity also allows the Wattbike to be connected directly to a range of online training and racing services including TrainerRoad, Spivi and Kinomap.
Additionally, the upgrade brings new testing features to enable riders and coaches to easily and accurately undertake a range of industry-standard testing protocols including sub-maximal ramp test, maximal ramp test and 3 minute test.
At the conclusion of each testing session a summary of results is displayed in an easy-to-read format on the Wattbike Performance Computer, which allows the user to establish their personalised heart rate and power training zones.
Alex Skelton, Marketing Director at Wattbike said “These updates to the Wattbike significantly enhance what is already the premier product when it comes to training with power. Riders are now able to store their Wattbike training data in their favourite online training diary and analyse their power profiles to better understand their performance.
“The new testing features give riders of all abilities the chance to establish crucial benchmark figures, which help form the basis of any training plan they choose to follow.”
The upgrade is available as a free software download for all Wattbike 2013 models from wattbike.com on 1 October 2013. Wattbike will be showcasing the new features at the Cycle Show 2013 from 26-29 September at NEC, Birmingham, UK.
