Billed as ‘the most exciting and unique fun run to ever come to Sunderland’, the inaugural ASICS Neon Run Sunderland is now less than five weeks away – marking the entrance of Neon Run into the UK market.
On Saturday 25 October 2014, ASICS Neon Run Sunderland will be unveiled as a night-time 5K neon fun-run spectacular – ‘combining running, jogging and walking with incredible lighting, fantastic music and a concert all in one!’
Back in August, event organiser Sport 3 Event Management UK confirmed ASICS as the new title sponsor of two Neon Run UK events. The deal sees ASICS as the naming rights sponsor of the two new events at Sunderland and Leeds in 2014 with the opportunity to extend the partnership to further events currently being developed.
Neon Run has been expanding rapidly in its current markets of Australia and South America, with events attracting more than 10,000 people to run, jog, walk and dance in entertaining fun runs. ASICS Neon Run Sunderland will take place at Herrington Country Park on Saturday 25 October and is open to anyone 10 years old and above.
Participants can expect an all-sensory experience at ASICS Neon Run Sunderland with’ incredible technical production, fantastic music and special guests’, including:
- The Capital FM on-air team will host the pre-run and on-stage entertainment and get the crowd amped up for the run.
- Participants will pass through four unique music zones on the run course with the Capital FM Pop Zone being the first feature zone with live entertainment, dancers and great music at this and the subsequent Rock, Disco and Brit music zones on course.
- The Virgin Active Warm Up team will conduct the official pre-event warm up where thousands of participants will bend and stretch to the beats of the on stage DJs as they get ready to run, jog or walk their way around the ASICS Neon Run course.
- Feature DJ James Cusack will light up the stage at the after party on the main stage featuring Neon dancers and plenty of prize giveaways
The Red Bull Wings team will provide welcome refreshment with free Red Bull for participants as the cross the line if they need it!
Every participant receives a high quality ASICS Neon Run T-shirt and a sound activated Neon wristband. Neon merchandise is available on-site as well as illuminated face paint to help participants really get into the neon spirit. There’s a bar on-site selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and plenty of food choices as well.
ASICS Neon Run Sunderland takes place at Herrington Country Park on Saturday 25 October. Gates open at 16:00 GMT with the first wave starts at 18:30. The feature concert and entertainment concludes at 21:30.
Entry for ASICS Neon Run Sunderland is open now at neonrun.org.uk. Entries for individual participants are £30, with teams of four or more receiving a 10% discount. Tickets are selling fast and participants are encouraged to enter before 1 October to avoid the £5 price rise.
Neon Run events are currently held in cities across Australia as well as five events in South America in 2014.
