The eleventh edition of the Forhans Cup circuit of multisport races in Italy gets started on Sunday 16 March. Organized by the Forhans Team, the series has been making waves on the Italian endurance sport scene for over a decade. The series starts with the Formello duathlon, then continues its eight stages until 19 October with a season finale in Santa Marinella.
Formello remains the only race in the series dedicated to duathlon. Starting in May, the Cerveteri sprint triathlon kick-starts the tri action. There are in fact five sprint triathlons (Cerveteri, Trevignano Romano, Anguillara, Roma, Santa Marinella), an Olympic distance triathlon (Lake Vico) and an extended Olympic distance event at Lago del Salto.
A new triathlon in Rome, scheduled for 5 October, will be held at a new facility on the coast of the Marine Village – south west of Rome.
The organisers have confirmed that a series bonus will also reward athletes with discounts in case of participation in other events organised by Forhans Team (such as the half marathons in Rieti and Lake Vico, and the Granfondo cycling event – Cammino di Francesco).
Ten years ago the Forhans Team organized the first edition of what is now called the Forhans Cup , an inter-circuit series that includes sporting events, duathlons and triathlons involving over two thousand athletes every year from all regions of central Italy.
The first stage of the Forhans Cup will be the Formello duathlon on Sunday 16 March, starting at 13.15 local time. The race will take place over a distance of 4.5K run – 14.5K cycling – 2.4K run.
With more than one hundred events in the last ten years, more than 3,000 athletes per year and over 40 sponsors, institutional partners and media partners – Forhans Team is a company based in Formello, formed a decade ago and still led by the organisation’s President Gianluca Calfapietra.
The company notes that that, ‘through the organization of events, it has created a perfect balance between business and sport.’
