XTERRA Wetsuits UK has launched the US-based brand’s Vendetta wetsuit to the British market, ‘with a special introductory price for pre-orders before the season starts.’ The new suit aims to fortify XTERRA Wetsuits UK & Ireland’s positioning in the triathlon and open water swimming industry. The brand aims to be the number one supplier and manufacturer of cutting-edge products, ‘designed to enhance the performances of athletes of all abilities in the water.’
The Vendetta is the product of extensive speed and flexibility research, featuring XTERRA’s most technologically advanced design and components. Two thin layers of neoprene sandwich pockets of air to keep an athlete’s body high in the water, reducing drag, whilst the efficient design has 5mm front and 3mm back panels of neoprene, the maximum legal thickness for increased buoyancy.
The Vendetta is fully coated with slick Super Composite Skin coating, whilst it has the X-Flex liner throughout entire suit. According to XTERRA Wetsuits, most other mid-level wetsuits use a high quality liner only in the arms). The seam-seal technology uses a triple layer of glue and double-blind stitching and the long-lasting seams ensure that ‘the suit will stay intact for season after season’.
According to the company, this high-end suit will retail at the RRP of £525 but is now available at a special pre-order price of £315. This is an opening discount of 40% and a saving of £210 – with XTERRA Wetsuits continuing to raise the bar when it comes to aggressive price points.
The Vendetta suit will be seen at the front of many triathlons this year, not least as worn by some of the athletes that are being supported by XTERRA Wetsuits in 2014.
Pro-triathlete Karl Alexander will be wearing the Vendetta in 2014 and said “I love how straight away it felt like it was a part me, a second skin. It felt so flexible and I just know that I’ll be super-fast come race day.”
Alexander has targeted some big races this year and as one of the fastest swimmers on the domestic UK triathlon circuit, he will be a contender to come out the water first in the Vendetta suit at events such as Slateman, Belvoir Castle Middle, Outlaw Half, Outlaw, the British Middle Distance Championships in Aberfeldy and Challenge Weymouth.
Also wearing the Vendetta will be the former two-time rowing world champion and Olympian Toby Garbett. Garbett is now focusing on triathlon and wore an XTERRA wetsuit in 2013, the year in which he claimed a National Age Group title.
Garbett will be looking to repeat the feat in 2014 and said “I will be wearing the brand new Vendetta wetsuit this year as I wore an XTERRA suit for the World Triathlon championships in Hyde Park last September where I was second out of the water. It also helped me to become National champion again. The Vendetta offers a great fit and the comfy inner lining makes this wetsuit very special.”
