The fourth edition of the asia bike trade show in Nanjing, China ended on Sunday 12 October with ‘record-breaking participation by visitors and exhibitors.’ 487 well-known brands from around the world participated in the industry trade show for sports and luxury bikes, an increase of 24% on the previous year.
82% of exhibitors came from abroad and the show’s floor space increased by 36% to 38,000 square metres. A total of 15,796 visitors – 8,812 industry visitors and 6,984 bike enthusiasts on the public day – were recorded this year (2013: 11,674 visitors).
“We are very proud to see how this trade show has developed and how its quality has increased in just a few years,” said Richard Li, Director of the asia bike show. “Our concept has proven to be particularly forward-looking, especially when compared with our new competitors.”
The organisers point to not only the number of visitors, but also the quality of the dealers from every province of China and from abroad, which reportedly put exhibitors in a good mood. “Many customers have already confirmed their participation for 2015 and several exhibitors have applied for more exhibition space,” said asia bike Project Leader Lucifer Zhou.
“With the fourth edition of the show, we have taken yet another step in the right direction,” said Eurobike head Stefan Reisinger at the close of asia bike in Nanjing. [The asia bike event is a sister show to the major international Eurobike show in Germany.]
He added, “asia bike has grown not only in terms of quantity, but especially in terms of quality. China is going to be one of the most important distribution markets for high-end bikes and the transition away from a pure sourcing market is fully underway. We are pleased that, with the success of asia bike, we are able to establish a valuable platform in China for our partners from throughout the world.”
“The strategy of putting on a trade show in China focused on sports and luxury bikes was risky, but the show’s success has proven us right”, said Knut Jäger, asia bike Chairman and Strategist. “Now our task is to bring long term stability into this concept. We will work on doing this with the strong support that our Eurobike partnership provides.”
The fifth edition of asia bike will take place from 9-12 October 2015. Demo Day will be held on 8 October 2015.
