Due out in the coming weeks, excitement about the new Polar V800 multisport watch is building according to the Heart Rate Watch Company – an authorized dealer for Polar in the US.
“This is a major watch evolution for Polar with Bluetooth Smart embedded, activity tracking and all the metrics required for swimming, running or cycling,” said Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. “This watch works with smartphones, has activity tracker features, like Polar Loop, and does all the advanced heart rate data with pace, distance and more.”
Heart rate in the water
Polar V800 uses the Polar H7 strap, which transmits in Bluetooth Smart and 5 kHz frequencies so it can deliver heart rate while swimming or under water. “This is a key ingredient that Garmin, Suunto and other GPS watch manufacturers do not deliver,” said Squire.
Polar Flow App
“Polar Flow is evolving and looks like it will become the main go-to data platform for Polar going forward as it will support the new V800 watch,” Squire added. “It is real handy because data simply transfers from the V800 straight to your iPhone using Bluetooth Smart and that is the direction we hope all Polar watches are going in.”
Gorilla Glass
“The V800 utilizes gorilla glass for the crystal which should make it a lot more rugged and scratch resistant than the average heart rate monitor,” continued Squire.
Availability
The Polar V800 (US$449.95 or US$499.95 with HR monitor) is scheduled to be available in April in black, with a blue version expected during spring 2014. An optional running stride sensor and speed, cadence and power cycling pedals are available separately. All accessories are Bluetooth Smart compatible and will be available from leading sports retailers, online and at www.polar.com. The Polar Flow app is available as a free download from Apple’s App Store.
