Up-and-coming wetsuit company ROKA Sports has confirmed a multi-year partnership with 51SpeedShop and elite triathlon coach, Mat Steinmetz.
“ROKA is a brand and product that is born out of details,” said Mat Steinmetz. “Nothing is left to chance or is just good enough. Every seam is perfect, every material is chosen and pattern is placed in a way to improve performance and this is exactly what 51SpeedShop looks for when dialling down the details for their athletes.”
ROKA Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ryan Dolan said, “We are proud to be working with Mat Steinmetz and his team at 51SpeedShop.” Dolan added, “Performance consulting and equipment optimization are pillars of the 51SpeedShop offerings and ROKA Sports is a perfect fit for their consultants, clients and athletes. We know this group would not work with just any brand and we look forward to what we can do together.”
Mat Steinmetz is routinely mentioned as one of the triathlon industry’s most influential people. Steinmetz has coached numerous World Champions in triathlon and is also considered one of the leading bike fitters in the industry and has worked with several members of top pro peloton teams such as Garmin and Team Sky.
51 SPEEDSHOP’s team of endurance experts coach athletes of all levels. They take a scientific approach to coaching by using the latest technology to monitor training and dial in race specific intensities ‘with a premium focus on equipment optimization and removing inefficiencies.’
51 Speed Shop and Mat Steinmetz join ROKA’s growing team of sponsors and collaborators including: 3x ITU World Champion & 2012 Olympic Silver Medallist Javier Gómez; Olympian Gwen Jorgensen; 2x ITU World Champion and Olympic Bronze Medallist Emma Moffatt; 2x Ironman 70.3 World Champion Melissa Hauschildt; 70.3 World Champion & 3x XTERRA World Champion Julie Dibens; 2013 Kona Runner-up & Ironman/Challenge winner Rachel Joyce; 5x Ironman Champion Meredith Kessler; 2x Olympian Laura Bennett; 11x Iron-distance & 3x 70.3 Champion Gina Crawford; 3x Wildflower Champion Jesse Thomas and others.
ROKA is a performance multisport brand that was founded in 2011 by two former All-American swimmers from Stanford University, who, after being ‘frustrated by the wetsuit offerings on the market, set out to make the fastest wetsuit on the planet.’ After two years of product development, the ROKA team launched their patent-pending Maverick wetsuit, Viper swimskin and SIM short training line in March 2013.
