The Eirias Middle Distance+ and Standard Distance+ Triathlons take place in North Wales on 9 August for the third time. The organiser Xtra Mile Events has confirmed that the races are part of the North Wales Adrenalin Coast Triathlon series, which also includes the Rhyl Sprint Triathlon Festival on 1 June and the Ffit Conwy Llandudno Sea Triathlon on 29 June.
Based at the new Porth Eirias Watersports Complex in Colwyn Bay, The Eirias has received solid feedback since it first took place in 2012, and it is now recognised as one of the most scenic and most challenging sea triathlons in the UK.
The start of both races is in the sea at Porth Eirias, with the middle distance+ race incorporating a 1900m swim (2 laps), 106K cycle and 20K run. The standard distance+ race takes place on the same course and includes a 1500m swim, 53K cycle and 10K run. Both races finish at Porth Eirias.
A new Starley Bikes sponsored King of the Mountains special stage has been introduced to find the best climber in the field. There will be a ‘STARLEY King of the Mountains’ climb at the beginning of each lap this year (details of the stage can be found on Strava).
There will also be a free open top bus tour of the cycle route on the night before the race (Friday evening, 8 August) for athletes, alongside plenty of entertainment along the course on race day and free samples of ERDINGER Alkoholfrei in the finish zone for all athletes.

With a stunning sea front venue and transition, an cycle route in the Welsh hills and a coastal run section, this is positioned as a must-do race that should not be missed this season. The organisers have confirmed that top local middle distance triathletes have been invited to race in Colwyn Bay, ensuring a top field.
Registration to The Eirias Triathlon is open with individual entry fees of £95 for the middle distance and £62 for the standard distance race. Team relay entries are available for £120 or £75 respectively. The first wave of the Eirias Middle Distance + Triathlon starts at 08:00 GMT and the Standard Distance + Triathlon starts at 09:00. Entries close on 7 August 2014 or when sold out.
