Stroke, Crank & Scarper… a new brand of après wear for multisport athletes

Stroke, Crank & Scarper is a new brand for the increasingly popular leisure, or ‘après wear’, apparel category. Positioned as ‘high quality après wear that you’ve earned the right to wear’, the Stroke, Crank & Scarper range includes a Weekend Warrior Hoodie (unisex) alongside men’s and women’s casual t-shirts.

The brand was founded by Andrew (‘the dreamer’) and Amanda Ward (‘the level headed one’). Both have been active in the UK multisport community since 1994 and have ‘put as much effort into this brand as you do in training for your next event.’

Speaking to triathlonbusiness.com, Andrew Ward said, “We’ve been looking to develop a range of multisport après wear for quite a while now. I’ve seen this great sport grow from what was almost an underground movement of like-minded ‘nutters’ to what is as you know is now one of the fastest growing sports.

“We wanted to bring a range of après wear to this great sport and all the derivatives that go with it – so that people can wear this range when they’re out, with something a bit more cerebral than ‘fancy a threesome’!”

He continued, “We’ve got some great followers including Richard Stannard and three up and coming female triathletes Hannah Kitchen, India Lee and Charlotte Hanson aka ‘The Scarperettes’. Also not forgetting Dan Cobby who was the first amateur across the line at Ironman UK finishing a superb 10th place.”

Paddle, Pedal, Push t-shirt

Andrew added, “Our t-shirts pay homage to the simplicity that this sport can be i.e. ‘Stroke Crank and Scarper’ or ‘Paddle Pedal Push’ but also the light hearted side of triathlon with our ‘Not sure if I told you that I’m a Triathlete’ and ‘Did I tell you I’m a Triathlete’. Finally we pay homage to Mission Bay where it all began with our retro ‘Mission Bay 1974’ t-shirt. And with the colder weather coming we have just introduced our first hoodie entitled ‘Weekend Warrior’.”

Stroke, Crank & Scarper is still very much a new company (5 months old), but is looking to visit as many UK events as possible with its range in 2015. The brand is also looking to meet as many triathletes/multisporters as it can in the months and years ahead – to keep the dialogue on-going as Stroke, Crank & Scarper continues its growth path. (Andrew is also a BTF level 2 coach so is always happy to pass on advice.)

Further details on the brand will follow as it gears up for the new season in 2015.
