Reynolds Cycling has confirmed that it will add Rachel McBride to its pro triathlete roster for 2015. McBride’s season will start with the Wildflower Triathlon in Lake San Antonio, California, on 2 May.
“We are so excited to sign Rachel as she continues her momentum into the 2015 season,” said Rob Aguero, Marketing Manager at Reynolds Cycling. “In addition to being a phenomenal triathlete, Rachel is also an extremely fast cyclist, so signing her was an easy decision.”
McBride currently lives and trains in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she is coached by Cliff English. She is a two-time IRONMAN 70.3 champion and three-time course record holder — IRONMAN 70.3 Calgary, Canadian National Championships and Squamish Triathlon. On the bike, accomplishments include: six-time IRONMAN 70.3 first-off-the-bike and eight-time Ironman 70.3 fastest bike split.
Reynolds Cycling notes that McBride will ride even faster in the 2015 season having just spent time testing and validating Reynolds AERO wheels in the Faster wind tunnel. Switching to the AERO wheels with Reynolds’ patented ‘Dispersive Effect Termination technology’ and optimizing her position yielded an immediate drop in watt drag numbers.
Outside the wind tunnel, Reynolds adds that her new AERO wheels will not only give her an aerodynamic edge, but also a handling advantage on the open road. ‘The AERO wheels are the least side-force-affected wheels available in crosswind conditions, making for a smooth, fast ride.’
