Video captures #orcapurefreedom with Orca’s 0.88 technology

New Orca 2015 collection

Orca notes that its new 2015 range has revolutionized the triathlon wetsuit market with the introduction of the ‘fastest, most technologically advanced wetsuits available’. Orca adds that its ‘innovative development of the most flexible arm and shoulder technology now allows a freedom of choice and movement for a swimmer that is a huge step forward from what has ever been seen before.’

To showcase its new 0.88 technology and the most relevant findings from its product tests, Orca has released a teaser and full version video based around the hashtag #orcapurefreedom.

Orca points out that its cutting-edge 0.88Free technology features a five-layer construction with a patented heat reflective titanium coating that offers high thermal insulation properties comparative to its 0.88mm thickness.

Billed as being extremely flexible and insulating, this thin material also offers buoyancy and a low drag co-efficient in the water. The 0.88Free arm panels also provide ‘the ultimate feel for the water’, which is important for an efficient stroke.

According to Orca, the results speak for themselves with a claimed 264% increase in flexibility and 2.3x improvement in stretch alongside the increased buoyancy and low drag in the water.

The Orca brand is ‘inspired by the open sea and its natural spirit of freedom.’ Founded in New Zealand but with a global outlook, Orca was created in 1992 because former triathlon champion and brand founder Scott Unsworth was passionate about creating better, faster wetsuits than those on the market at the time.

That relentless desire to use cutting edge innovation to fuel the best performance remains with Orca today. The Orca name evokes the instinct and prowess of the powerful ruler of the oceans. Like the Orca whale, ‘our designs have always been organic, streamlined and in tune with nature.’
