Record attendance for Triathlon Show: London

Chrissie Wellington speaks to crowd at Triathlon Show London

Runners, swimmers and cyclists from across the UK gathered at London’s ExCeL from 12–15 February to visit what the organisers are billing as ‘the UK’s largest triathlon show’. The Triathlon Show: London – Driven by SEAT, which co-located with The London Bike Show and The Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show, attracted a reported 50,271 visitors, an 11% increase year on year. All three events are organised by Telegraph Events.

Catering for triathletes of all abilities, the event showcased top brands, provided expert training assessments and welcomed some of the biggest names in the sport. Exhibitors at the show included Zone3, High5, Brooks, Alton Sports, 2-Pure, Mailsports, 2XU, HUUB, RunBreeze and many more.

Dean Jackson – Founder at HUUB said, “The Triathlon Show: London was again a great opportunity to connect and talk with audiences old and new. The show’s presentation and management created a great surrounding to showcase and retail. A great event and a sealed event for the calendar of HUUB.”

Mike Martin – Sales and Marketing Manager at 2XU said, “The Triathlon Show: London is more than a tri show, it is a festival of sport, good organisation with thought out pre event promotion led to a successful show with good footfall.”

The show offered visitors the opportunity to meet and hear from their triathlon heroes, as a stellar line up of speakers graced the Tri Experts Theatre in association with High5 Sports Nutrition. Stage presenter, Tri247’s John Levison, was joined in a special public appearance by World Champions and Olympian’s Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, who spoke about their experience of working with SEAT on the Leon X-PERIENCE Tri Another Way Challenge and the season ahead. Also in attendance were, four time IRONMAN World Champion Chrissie Wellington, ‘Queen of Kona’ Paula Newby-Fraser, and pro-triathletes Helen Jenkins and Lucy Gossage.

Raphael Deinhart – Marketing Co-ordinator, High5 Sports Nutrition said, “This was the second year we have exhibited at the event and we were blown away by the response! We sponsored the Tri Experts Theatre which welcomed some stellar names and we were delighted with the additional brand awareness this offered. Our stand was packed with quality visitors for four days and we’re already looking forward to the 2016 show.”

Paula Newby-Fraser – Ambassador, IRONMAN added, “2015 was the first year that IRONMAN got involved with the Triathlon Show: London. The show provided us with great opportunity to present the brand, our events and spread the message of new initiatives to a broad audience of multisports athletes and affiliated organizations and partners.

“The environment and timing provided optimal opportunity to connect directly with seasoned IRONMAN athletes, as well as health and fitness enthusiasts, looking to take up the challenge of triathlon.”

Following the launch of the Triathlon Plus Show in 2014, this was the first time the rebranded Triathlon Show: London event had taken place. After securing partnerships with key organisations including IMG, organiser of the UK’s two largest triathlons, Ironman, Tri247.com and Triathlon England, the organisers feel that the show is well positioned as a premier event for the triathlon industry.

He continued, “The rebrand allowed us to work with a number of media partners in a more integrated way and this has been key to the success of the show. Melanie Berry – Deputy Chairman of the Triathlon Industry Association (TIA) added, “The TIA held their quarterly meeting alongside the Triathlon Show: London and it provided an ideal setting for our discussion about how we move the industry forwards. The show was busy and looked great, setting an excellent example of how the industry should be presenting itself to the public.

“People’s perceptions of triathlon are often that it’s expensive, elitist and difficult, but the show demonstrated this wasn’t the case, and offered lots for visitors to do and a great value day out. We look forward to being part of the event in 2016 and hope to see more triathlon brands involved.”

Triathlon Show: London, The London Bike Show and The Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show will return to ExCeL, London on 11–14 February 2016.
