Anglesey Sandman on Channel 4

Anglesey Sandman

Having sold out for the third successive year, the Anglesey Sandman Triathlon powered by Suunto, and organised by Always Aim High Events, is airing on Channel 4 this Saturday 26 November at 06:40 GMT and Ch4+1 at 07:40.

The Sandman Triathlon attracts over 1,000 competitors, ‘along with thousands more spectators’, to Newborough Forest in North Wales. Taking place on 17-18 September, the race weekend included distances for all abilities as well being the final round of the Always Aim High Events organised Adventure Triathlon Series.

Featuring a ‘Rio style start’ for the swim at the blue flag Llanddwyn Beach, competitors experienced a swim in the beach’s clear waters under the watchful gaze of the Snowdonia National Park and Llyn Peninsula. This was followed by a cycle route along the twisting and undulating country lanes around Anglesey. The triathlon was finished off with a sandy trail run through Newborough Forest with a final stretch and finish line back on Llanddwyn Beach.

The airing of the Sandman event by mainstream broadcaster Channel 4 is the result of a partnership between the TV station and endurance sport TV production firm Dream Team Television. The final ‘run-in’ of endurance sport TV shows to look out for in 2016 on Channel 4 include:

  • Itera Ireland Expedition Race – 10 December
  • The Three Peaks Yacht Race – 17 December

Having established a close partnership with Channel 4 television, Dream Team Television is one of the UK’s leading production companies specialising in multisport, adventure, athletics and motorsport programming. The company has an international reputation for producing some of the highest quality programmes in these specialist areas.
