Over the course of the Eurobike international bike trade fair in Friedrichshafen, Germany, between 31 August and 4 September, a three-person scouting team from Fahrrad-PR.de were on the search for a ‘hidden champion’ among the exhibitors.
The aim of the company’s hidden champion award is to draw attention to a lesser known, but equally as innovative and exciting brand. “The bicycle industry is characterized by a large diversity of manufacturers and brands,” said George Pascal, Executive Director of ITMS/ Fahrrad-PR.de.
“This makes it difficult for many companies to attract the attention of consumers and trade organizations. We would like to make a small contribution, by offering a platform for those companies that might not command the same kind of attention as the big brands. And chances are good here in Germany and Europe; there is a continuous demand for interesting alternatives to the usual market offerings.”
Interested companies were able to apply in advance to be considered for the award, and along with potential candidates spotted on site at the show, all the applicants and media documentation was sifted through to make the final decision. The three-person jury unanimously decided on Bike Ahead Composites as their champion.
The company from Lower Franconia Veitshöchheim has many years of experience in fibre composites. Their light yet stable carbon bike components are developed and manufactured exclusively in Germany.
For its no-slip-application NSA-technology, Bike Ahead Composites was also presented with a Eurobike Gold Award. The new layer of NBR rubber is incorporated in the curing and manufacturing process directly and is mainly used in clamping areas, such as the seat tube or the connection between the handlebar and stem. This makes for increased friction and improved tolerances. The technology additionally ‘minimizes the risk of twisting or shifting and ultimately, leads to increased riding pleasure.’
