Triathlon fans in the UK will be treated to a long summer of IRONMAN action on new TV channel BIKE, with the channel showcasing a set of 12 original highlight programmes from a number of key IRONMAN races.
Qualifying races for the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship span five continents around the world, and fans can tune in to BIKE’s coverage of the series to enjoy action from the following events:
- 22 July, 20:30 GMT – IRONMAN South American Championship (Florianópolis, Brazil)
- 29 July, 20:30 – IRONMAN France (Nice, France)
- 5 August, 20:30 – IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship (Cairns, Australia)
- 12 August, 21:00 – IRONMAN Austria (Klagenfurt, Austria)
- 19 August, 20:30 – IRONMAN European Championship (Frankfurt, Germany)
- 2 September, 21:00 – IRONMAN Mont – Tremblant (Mont- Treblant, Quebec)
- 9 September, 22:00 – IRONMAN Copenhagen (Copenhagen, Denmark)
- 16 September, 21:00 – IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship (Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia)
A release from the new channel added that ‘Triathlon fans can look forward to even more exciting IRONMAN World Championship coverage on BIKE, as the channel will also showcase highlights from the upcoming 2017 and 2018 seasons of the event.’
BIKE Channel is available in the UK on Sky channel 464, Virgin Media channel 552 and on Freesat channel 251.
BIKE is the first 24-hr broadcast channel devoted to cycling. Born in Italy in 2012, BIKE channel has reportedly been a huge success and reaches over 1 million cycling fans every month. In December 2015, BIKE launched in the UK and is now available to Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat customers in over 17 million households.
