UK grass roots apparel company Bonk has announced it is to wind up at the end of this year. Things have been quiet at Bonk for much of 2016 and the lack of new product announcements suggested all wasn’t totally well behind the scenes. News has now emerged that due to changing circumstances, the owners of the business have made a decision to cease operations.
A closing down sale is now on and Bonk will continue to trade over the coming weeks and months as the company sells through its remaining inventory. Bonk has confirmed that all orders will continue to be fulfilled until product lines have completely sold out, which they expect to happen by the end of this year, if not before.
Charlie Evans, Founder and Managing Director of Bonk has released the following statement via social media…
‘’It is with a great deal of sadness that we have to announce Bonk will cease to operate at the end of this year.
“Despite huge efforts to build the brand from the grass roots up, there have been significant changes in the circumstances of the owners of the company over the past few years, which have been holding us back. Unfortunately, this has created a situation whereby the only route forward is for us to cease trading.
“We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been involved, most notably our customers and followers who have supported us so brilliantly along the way, and helped develop a real sense of community around the brand.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to meet so many fantastic people in the world of triathlon and endurance sport, thanks to all of you for contributing to what has been an amazing journey.
“It’s not quite all over just yet though, we still have some kit available, a mix of performance and lifestyle wear plus a range of accessories, all of which is currently on sale and discounted at between 50% and 80% off. All this remaining stock is available to purchase at www.bonkathletic.com as part of our closing down sale.
“Rest assured, we will carry on fulfilling all orders and continue to offer free UK shipping with all online purchases until everything has sold out.”
Continuing its clearance sale on all items, Bonk will be at the following UK events in September: Reading Triathlon – 4 September; Bodiam Triathlon – 11 September; Richmond Running Festival – 18 September and the Hever Castle Triathlon – 24-25 September.
