Consolidation of brake know‐how, as Brake Force One and MAGURA build cooperation

Two southwest German brake manufacturers Brake Force One (BFO, Tu?bingen) and MAGURA (Bad Urach), both based in the German state of Baden?Wu?rttemberg, have agreed to build a ‘close cooperation in the future’.

Both companies develop and manufacture hydraulic bike brakes. A release from MAGURA notes that ‘each partner company possesses strengths that will benefit each other’. In the current highly competitive market and, at the same time, with new market opportunities on the horizon, both partner companies consider the timing of the cooperation to be appropriate.

MAGURA with its own international production facilities is complemented by its 90 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of innovative hydraulic systems in the motorbike and bike industries as demonstrated in the recently announced fully electronic Vyron seatpost.

BFO with its small, but innovative team ‘delivers novel approaches in the development of new products’. Products such as the H2O brake and its world first ABS System shown at this year’s Eurobike show have illustrated the company’s innovation.

“We aim to pool our resources and establish synergies to further set a course on the market successfully and to deliver innovative high?quality solutions to our customers,” said Frank Stollenmaier, CEO of BFO.

Ralph Berndt, MAGURA’s CEO added “In the future, we want to emphasize the development of innovative products. We will take the next step with Swabian [southwest German] manufacturing competence.”
