The ENVE Gravel Road Fork (GRD), which was first previewed at the North American Hand-built Bicycle Show in 2015 as a prototype, is now shipping to customers worldwide.
The new fork targets the burgeoning adventure/gravel road market, and comes hot-on-the-heels of Amer Sports’ recent acquisition of ENVE Composites, based in Utah, USA.
ENVE’s GRD Fork is a purpose built road fork specifically optimized for the gravel, adventure, and all-road market. The new GRD fork features a 382mm axle to crown length and offers tyre clearance for up to a 38mm tyre without a fender and 35mm with fender.
The removable carbon fibre fender weighs roughly 150g and offers ‘full coverage with simple installation and removal’.
“Creating a road fork with an integrated carbon fender system that offered tool free installation and removal is something we’ve wanted to do for years,” said Marketing Director Jake Pantone.
“We wanted a fender that was so simple to install that you wouldn’t avoid riding in nasty conditions just because the fender was overly challenging to quickly install. Additionally, once the fender is on the bike, we wanted fender removal to be equally simple. The rapidly emerging adventure, all-road, gravel road market provided the perfect platform for a fork with this functionality.”
“The Gravel Road Fork is a truly unique design for custom frame builders and their clients who are looking for performance road bikes that aren’t confined to concrete and asphalt road surfaces where larger volume tires, ample clearance, and disc brakes are the name of the game,” added Chief Engineer Kevin Nelson.
ENVE’s GRD Fork will be on display in ENVE’s booth and ENVE’s partner builder’s booths at the 2016 North American Hand-built Bicycle Show in Sacramento, California. The ENVE GRD Fork is now shipping to custom frame builders and ENVE’s distribution channels worldwide. ENVE’s new GRD fork will retail for US$750.
Located in Ogden, Utah, ENVE Composites is a manufacturer of handmade carbon fibre bicycle rims and components. ENVE designs and manufactures 100% of its rims in their Ogden, Utah, USA facility.
