Human Race, ‘the UK’s largest mass participation events company’ is reportedly seeing a rise in businesses taking part in its triathlon events – with the likes of PwC, UBS, ICAP, Legal and General and Morgan Stanley all entering teams to compete in triathlons for staff to race as part of relay teams and as individuals.
Human Race notes that a health and wellbeing program in businesses can reduce sickness by 45% and raise both productivity and employee satisfaction. The company adds that ‘It’s no surprise that some of the most competitive workplaces are turning to events such a triathlon as their preferred teambuilding activity.’
Successful teambuilding events to encourage engagement at work are often those that create a genuine calendar moment in the year, are innovative and fun, leave all participants feeling as though they have achieved something worthwhile and bonded with other employees.
JLL EMEA Management Board Member, Richard Batten said “The JLL Triathlon has become a key event in the sports and social side of the property industry and totally engages our own staff, clients and competitors.”
The Human Race Triathlon Series is positioned as an opportunity to get the whole company involved in a fitness activity. With a little training, the shorter distances are accessible for everyone. Many of the open water swims take place in the clear and clean waters of Eton Dorney Lake, one of the iconic venues of the 2012 Olympic Games.
Triathletes can then take to the closed, flat road circuit for a bike course spanning the 450-acre parkland. The final run follows a loop along the side of the rowing tank on tarmac paths.
Entering in a group of 10 or more to the Human Race Triathlon Series offers up to a 25% discount. Further details can be found at humanrace.co.uk/group-entries.
