BIKE Channel, ‘the first television channel dedicated to the world of cycling’, has agreed exclusive UK deals to broadcast highlights and magazine shows from three of the world’s leading triathlon events – the ITU World Triathlon Series, XTERRA and the IRONMAN World Series.

The agreements with ITU, XTERRA and IRONMAN extend BIKE Channel’s coverage of endurance and triathlon events, continuing the channel’s commitment to broadcasting sporting events for a divisive range of endurance sports fans.

BIKE Channel’s exclusive pay-TV deal with the International Triathlon Union will bring the ITU World Triathlon Series to viewers. Positioned as the pinnacle of elite triathlon racing, the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Series calendar of events began in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 3-4 March, with the UK event taking place in Leeds on 10-11 June before finishing in Rotterdam in September. Broadcast of the first magazine show from Abu Dhabi took place on Friday 10 March.

IRONMAN World Series highlights will be carried exclusively in the UK by the channel, with a range of competitions available including short course tri, IRONKIDS and IRONMAN.

Similarly, XTERRA World Tour highlights will air exclusively on BIKE Channel, with athletes from around the world competing in off-road triathlons and trail runs in some of the most diverse, visually spectacular and challenging natural environments on the planet, from tropical jungles to snow-covered alps.

Filippo Ubaldini, Founder & CEO of BIKE Channel said “BIKE Channel is the perfect destination for endurance sports involving cycling, and we are thrilled to be expanding our coverage to include the ITU World Triathlon Series, XTERRA and IRONMAN World Series. Signing these exclusive deals enables BIKE Channel to serve viewers with the best events and best athletes from the world of triathlon.

“We know that our audience loves to see what has happened in an event, and these acquisitions will hopefully open our channel up to even more people.”

BIKE Channel is available on Sky channel 464, Virgin Media channel 552 and Freesat channel 251. The TV channel is available to over 19 million homes in the UK through Sky, Virgin and Freesat, and in 4.9 million homes in Italy, as well as through online social networks.

The channel is the first television channel totally dedicated to the world of cycling, delivering stories of the sport, adventure, legends and insights from the world of bikes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Aimed at all cyclists and cycling fans, the channel aims to appeal to leisure riders, racers, mountain bikers, commuters and triathletes. Enthusiasts can get their cycling fix from a range of content dedicated to travel, training, endurance, legends of the sport and more.
