‘Smart cycling in focus at bigger than ever Taipei Cycle Show’

Taipei Cycle, Asia’s largest trade fair for the bicycle industry, is set to relaunch with new dates and a modernized concept in 2018. Held from October 31st to November 3rd, with 1,170 exhibitors, nearly 3,450 booths and an anticipated 50,000 visitors, the organising team note that the trade fair held annually in Taiwan’s capital will be bigger than ever.

A schedule shift that is more favorable for the global cycling industry, the expansion to a second venue, and a brand new IoT (Internet of Things) Zone as well as a Start-up Pavilion are some of the new highlights that will be discussed during a press conference to be held at next month’s Eurobike in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

Also to be announced during the press conference at Eurobike are ‘several new innovations from Taiwanese companies as well as the recent release of a stricter Taiwan Industry Bicycle Standard’. Taipei Cycle will be held from October 31 to November 3 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and TWTC Hall 3.

Over the last few years, Taipei Cycle has become a show for suppliers and distributors to reach international customers. At the same time, the organisers point out that it remains one of the most important conferences for business engagement and networking. With the new dates, Taipei Cycle will aim to ‘better serve as a platform for product managers, allowing them to finalize their plans for their newest model year and providing them with a venue, where innovative prototypes can be previewed before the start of mass production.’

As more attention is drawn to doing business in emerging markets, Taipei Cycle has also evolved into a trade fair for suppliers to showcase their bicycle brands and product ranges throughout Asia. ‘The regional convenience for distributors and retailers creates easy access to the growing markets on the largest continent.’

With technology advancing rapidly, the Taipei Cycle team adds that the bicycle market is being shaped by specialized providers with expertise not only in the manufacturing of bike frames but also in software development – amongst them, young emerging companies that will now also feature as prominent exhibitors at Taipei Cycle.

To accommodate this expansion, the 2018 edition of Taipei Cycle will make use of Hall 3 at the Taipei World Trade Center, in addition to the exhibition’s established main location at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre.

The new venue will be labelled Taipei Cycle Plus. It will feature the newly created Start-up Pavilion and IoT Zone dedicated to start-up companies, exhibitors from the IoT segment as well as established brands from the electronics segment, such as Bryton (GPS computers), Shutter Precision (hub dynamos) and MPS Energy (battery packs).

The press conference at Eurobike on July 8th, organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), will also feature speakers and experts. Visitors attending the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen are invited to the TAITRA Booth in Hall 5-234 to receive more information on smart cycling related Taiwanese suppliers.
