Triathlon Business International (TBI) has announced the finalist events that were voted by triathletes as the ‘Triathletes Choice’ best events in each of four categories: best large, small, bucketlist and intro race for beginners. More than 300 events from around the world were submitted in the nomination process.
The finalist events received the most nominations in each category; and the winners will be announced at the 8th Annual TBI Conference, on 26-28 January 2018 in Tempe, Arizona.
TBI notes that it is now time for triathletes to declare their choice for the very best in each category. The voting link is surveymonkey.com/r/TriathletesChoice. Voting closes on Wednesday, 17 January 2018.
As voters look at each category – large, small, bucketlist and intro race for beginners – they should consider whether the event:
- Challenges, inspires or brings out the best in participants;
- Creates an atmosphere of fun, excitement and energy;
- Goes beyond the ‘call of duty’ when it comes to customer service, great organization and information, reasonable fees, coaching/advice, race day assistance, great volunteers; and/or
- Raises money for charitable causes.
Each person will be limited to one vote per category, and can submit only one ballot.

TBI notes that the 2018 conference will be packed full of information and opportunities for everyone involved in the business and sport of triathlon. The current schedule can be found on the TBI Conference webpage. In addition to the main sessions, the conference has three topic tracks for race directors/services; retail/manufacturers; and coaches/clubs.

Current TBI members
- US$575 from 1 January 2018 to the conference start on 26 January (Fees are ‘all-in’; no additional charges will be added at checkout)
Non-members
- US$675 from 1 January 2018 to the conference start on 26 January
Non-members will have the opportunity to join TBI during the conference registration process. Those who join TBI at registration will receive the US$100 discount of a current member.

Conference hotel block
Room reservations at the Tempe Mission Palms are now open for the conference. TBI has a room block for the conference dates at a US$179/night rate, which is a 40% discount off the published weekend rate. This room block is limited and attendees are encouraged to reserve their rooms as soon as possible to avoid missing the opportunity. Conference registration opens at 09:00 local time on Friday 26 January, and outdoor activities are also planned for the morning. Thursday night reservations are available at this rate on a very limited basis.
