Thursday 19 November sees the launch of an exclusive behind the scenes documentary on ultra-running phenomenon John Kelly’s epic ‘Grand Round’. The documentary will air on the newly launched Run Show TV, operated by Raccoon Events, the company behind the National Running Show.
The documentary has been produced by UK sport and outdoor photography and videography specialist PH Balance – who followed Barkley Marathons finisher John Kelly.
The Grand Round links the UK’s big three fell running rounds including the Paddy Buckley Round in Wales, the Bob Graham Round in the Lake District and the Charlie Ramsay Round in the Scottish Highlands consecutively – with travel between rounds completed by bike.
The challenge covered running more than 185 miles with 84,000 feet of elevation gain over 113 summits and more than 400 miles of cycling.
Kelly, 36, originally from Tennessee, USA and now residing in Bristol, UK, completed the feat on 21 August 2020 – becoming the first person to complete the Grand Round in a total of 5 days, 10 hours and 43 minutes.
He said “I’m excited to be able to share this adventure with its incredible scenery, all its highs and lows, and the physical, mental, and logistical effort a challenge of this nature requires including the team of people who supported and made this possible.
“To have this all pulled together in a documentary has allowed me to relive this experience and I hope it will inspire others to create their own big goals that align with their passions and provide the motivation to get out and pursue them.”
John was also fundraising for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust with this effort. Donations are still open via Just Giving.
Available exclusively on Run Show TV on YouTube, the premiere will begin at 2000 GMT on Thursday 19th November.
Run Show TV is the brainchild of Raccoon Events, the company behind The National Running Show, in partnership with PH Balance and will play host to exclusive interviews and documentaries all intended to inspire and connect runners of all abilities from across the globe.
