‘At Home Superheroes’, the newest event launched by the Superhero Series, will use RaceNation, the integrated event registration, club membership and fundraising platform.
In an extension to the two brands working together since 2016, RaceNation will be supporting this custom event with fully integrated online entry along with participant tracking via an event day app.
With COVID-19 keeping everyday heroes inside, the Superhero Series, famed for its live broadcast on Channel 4 television in the UK, will this year be hosting the At Home Superheroes challenge between 15th June and 15th July as a virtual race.
Participants (aka Superheroes) will be tasked with a 20km challenge that they can complete anywhere and in any way. From the living room, garden or neighbourhood each participant will be able to walk, run, push, wheel, canoe or swim their way to the finish line. Channel 4, along with presenter Clare Balding will then be broadcasting the challenge through a montage of families taking part, airing on 15th August.
As a virtual event, At Home Superheroes will be using the RaceNation event day app, available for free to any RaceNation event, to be fully customised to the Superhero Series branding. It will then be used to track each participant’s progress. This enables others who not able to be with participants during the event to not only see how they’re getting on, but send messages of encouragement.
The event app also has the functionality for users to donate directly to their chosen charity through SportsGiving, the fundraising arm of RaceNation.
Superhero Series Founder and Paralympian Sophia Warner said “We’ve been planning to introduce At Home Superheroes for a while as we know it can be tricky for many participants to physically attend the events for various reasons.
“Having the confidence from RaceNation that virtual event ticketing, fundraising and tracking can all be done easily is a huge logistical help. Our online registration form captures a large amount of information from our entrants with many multi-layered questions adding complexity, but the RaceNation system is able to handle it all without a hiccup.”

The Superhero Series is the UK’s only sports series dedicated to the nation’s 13.3 million people with disabilities of any kind (Everyday Superheroes). Super Heroes are welcome to bring family and friends along to support them on the course (Sidekicks). There are two annual Superhero Series events:
- Superhero Tri – unique solo or relay triathlon challenges in August
- Winter Wonderwheels – solo or team challenges where people can run, wheel, walk, push or be pushed around three lakeside distances in December
At Home Superheroes is replacing Superhero Tri 2020 this summer to ensure the safety of participants in light of Covid-19.
