ESSNawards 2021 winners unveiled

The sports nutrition industry across Europe gathered virtually this week for the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Awards (ESSNawards).

‘Delivered by Whitehouse Communications in partnership with the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA), the ESSNawards gave brands, organisations and ambassadors active in the sports nutrition industry an opportunity to gain recognition for their contributions to the sector.

‘It also brought together key stakeholders to network and exchange ideas about how to overcome future regulatory challenges and growing sustainability demands.’

The event included presentations from:

  • Chris Whitehouse, Chairman and Managing Director of Whitehouse Communications,
  • Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA,
  • Team Jamaica Powerlifter Chloe Whylie,
  • Team GB Wheelchair Rugby player Martin Norris, and
  • Terence O’Rorke, Business Development Manager at Informed Sport.

The ceremony was hosted by Ian Craig, Founder of the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition and editor of Functional Sports Nutrition magazine, and Shane Starling, nutrition journalist and founder of Stardust Komms.

Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA, said “This past year has been yet another one fraught with changes. We celebrated not only as we saw sports venues slowly re-open to both athletes and spectators, but also at the increased uptake in exercise around the globe as limited outdoor time became the only means of both physically and mentally escaping the hardships of lockdowns.

“The sports and active nutrition sector has shown an incredible resilience to an uncertain market, and its innovation has meant that so many more consumers prioritise their health – we very much deserved this night to celebrate.”
