British performance eyewear brand SunGod has launched a new limited edition model of its Velans performance sunglasses. The launch celebrates its headline partnership with the Canyon dhb SunGod race team.
‘Featuring cutting-edge 8KO lens technology to offer some of the clearest, strongest and lightest sunglasses available on the market, customers will be able to purchase the same glasses used by the Canyon dhb SunGod team throughout the 2021 season.’
The launch of the team partnership late last year was met as welcome news for the British road racing scene, which has seen the closure of several teams over the past 12 months, during which the British racing calendar was cancelled.
By putting the Velans through real world performance racing, SunGod and the Canyon dhb SunGod team will be working closely to develop further improvements that will be then passed on to the consumer.
Max Steadman, Team rider and GC winner of the 2020 Tour of Antalya, said “It’s really exciting to get another great British brand onboard for the coming 2021 season. Last year was obviously not ideal for so many reasons, but to look forward to the 2021 race calendar with a set of glasses which offer such optimal optical clarity. It really gives me confidence that we can achieve some great results this year.”
There will only be 100 pairs available for customers looking to show their support for the British UCI Continental team. Each set of Velans will feature the team logos as a laser lens engraving on the 8KO Gold lens, and a team logo detailing inside of the arm.
The limited edition sunglasses will also come with a team design microfibre pouch, and a branded box-wrap.
Launched in 2013 from a crowdfunding campaign, SunGod has established itself as a leading British eyewear brand. As part of the relaunch of its Pace Series, the Velans are one of the more popular models of glasses available from SunGod’s customisable range.
‘Using a refined toric lens to offer optical precision, riders will be able to spot every detail on the road ahead, giving the Canyon dhb SunGod team an edge in this year’s race calendar.’
SunGod’s Head of Partnerships, David Rogal, said “We’re really excited to support the Canyon dhb SunGod team as one of their headline sponsors, and to offer customers the opportunity to show their support too through this limited edition design.
“The Velans have been one of our customer favourites since launching them, and we truly believe the team will have an advantage through their optical precision in this year’s season.”
In teaming up with Canyon dhb SunGod, the partnership reflects SunGod’s continued commitment to supporting home-grown British talent. SunGod supports a number of other racing teams throughout the domestic scene, including Ribble Weldtite and Bianchi Dama, as well as Internationelles and the Black Cyclist Network, who both are heavily involved in campaigns for equal representation in the sport.
