MYLAPS Sports Timing and IRONMAN Europe have announced a three-year agreement to deliver race timing services for more than 75,000 triathletes. MYLAPS notes that participants of most IRONMAN races (around 30 events per year) across Europe will be ‘ensured of the latest developments in timekeeping.’
Many IRONMAN race directors and participants are familiar with the MYLAPS timing technology, which has been used at several IRONMAN races across the globe. Founded in 1982, MYLAPS is the inventor of automatic sports timing. It develops technology that is used all over the world, from the Olympics and MotoGP to various locals races.
For this newest partnership IRONMAN Europe will work together with the timing staff from MYLAPS Event Timing, supported by local MYLAPS timing partners across Europe. These races will be timed with the ProChip System. According to MYLAPS, this is ‘the standard for high-speed sports with an accuracy up to 0.003 seconds.’
The newly launched ProChip Smart Decoder is claimed to be the smallest and lightest timing decoder in the industry. This setup was recently used at IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai in March.
Stefan Lenhart, Director of Technical Operation at IRONMAN Europe, said “The iconic IRONMAN series of events is the largest participation sports platform in the world. We strive to offer the ultimate experience to our athletes. Accurate and reliable timing data are a crucial element of the race experience for participants and their followers. Therefore we rely on the expertise of MYLAPS Sports Timing.”
“We are thrilled to partner up with one of the most iconic names in the mass event industry,” said Arno Kempenaar, Director of MYLAPS Event Timing. “In the Netherlands we already timed several IRONMAN races. We look forward to the coming years to offer the best timing experience together with our local partners across Europe.”
