According to a report by Sky News, Ribble Cycles is being readied for a sale – with the company’s owner True Capital reportedly engaging investment banking firm Stifel… ‘to prepare the company for an auction in the coming months.’
124 year-old bicycle manufacturer Ribble was originally founded in 1897, taking its name from the valley where the company is based in North West England. Retail and consumer sector specialist investor True Capital acquired Cyclesport North, the owner of the Ribble brand back in 2015.
Ribble has been expanding its bike brand and retail presence in recent months. It unveiled a new showroom in Nottingham, central England, in August. New bike offerings were also launched by the brand last month, such as the Ultra Road range and a move to SRAM XPLR wireless shifting for the Ribble Gravel line.
Shortly prior to that the company unveiled its first ever mainstream TV advertising, which aired during the Tour de France from late June.
In its report Sky News adds that.. ‘Ribble is now understood to have plans for a significant international expansion, as well as to grow its market share in the UK.’
