Yamaguchi prefecture in Japan is inviting the international cycling community to explore the ‘end of the world’ via a ROUVY open virtual cycling race this Sunday, June 20th.
The newly released virtual route presents a ride around the tourist location from the Sea of Japan, and the island of Tsunoshima along with its bridge and lighthouse.
In April 2021, ROUVY signed a partnership agreement with growB Sports (Globe Sports Communications) to boost its activities and grow its online training & racing community in Japan.
‘The 1:1 virtual replica of this postcard place with white sands and emerald green waters is now available for the virtual-bike cruise from home.’
Tsunoshima is an island with a population of 900, located in the northwest of Yamaguchi Prefecture, alongside the Sea of Japan. The Great Tsunoshima Bridge is one of the longest (1,780m) bridges in Japan, featuring a public road, free to tour without a toll. It is also a location featured in many movies and TV shows.
The head of the Yamaguchi E-sports Union, Kazunari Ueda said “We are happy to launch the virtual race in one of the most prominent attractions of Yamaguchi. The bridge, which is in perfect harmony with nature, combined with the beauty of the island and the colour of the sea is a sight to behold.
“Everyone is welcome to discover the place online via ROUVY and one can be sure that every athlete will wish to visit this magical place one day, in person.”
The digitized course is 13.4km, taking riders on a loop via the Great Tsunoshima Bridge, the panoramic island coastline, the lighthouse and back again.
