Manchester, UK-based investment firm, AJ Bell, has been announced as title sponsor of the AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds, extending a partnership that dates back to 2018.
The extended sponsorship will see one of the UK’s largest investment platforms continue its relationship with British Triathlon and the event over two days of sporting action on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June 2022, all of which will take place in and around Leeds’ Roundhay Park.
As part of the World Triathlon Championship Series, the Leeds event attracts many of the best international athletes in the sport. Thousands of fans are expected to descend on the city to cheer on Britain’s best as they take on the rest of the world on home soil.
This year will see the introduction of an elite mixed relay race, an addition to the 2022 event following Great Britain’s mixed relay gold at Tokyo 2020. The Leeds event also sees thousands of amateur athletes, of all ages and backgrounds, take on a variety of distances and events over the course of the weekend – with races for those as young as 11.
Andy Bell, Chief Executive at AJ Bell, said “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring the AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Leeds Championship Series again, and it’ll be exciting to watch the gold medallists from the Tokyo Olympics in action. I’m looking forward to cheering on the younger athletes who will tackle the course.”
Andy Salmon, British Triathlon CEO, added “I’m delighted that AJ Bell will once again be title partner for World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds and supporting us in delivering a great experience for the thousands of participants who take part.
“The event brings together participants from all walks of life; and partners like AJ Bell are central to helping us put on an event that provides first-timers and elites the opportunity to race and achieve their goals.”
