IRONMAN has announced a new five-year deal with Bolton Council to host IRONMAN UK in Bolton, northwest England until 2027, with the event set to celebrate its fifteen-year anniversary in 2024.
The thirteenth edition of IRONMAN UK concluded on July 3, 2022, in Bolton, England, with two local age group athletes taking home titles as the new champions.
George Martindale was the first athlete across the finish line (09:38:30). Dee Allen took overall honours in the women’s category, finishing her first ever IRONMAN with a leading time of 11:17:43.
The Sunday race saw athletes from ages 18 to 74 compete in the 140.6-mile triathlon event known for its challenging course and spectator support.

“We would like to thank our staff, suppliers, and volunteers for their hard work, our spectators for turning out in droves to help each athlete down the finish line, and Bolton Council for their continued help and support.”
Having announced the signing of a new deal with Bolton Council to host the event in Bolton for another five years – the event runs through until at least 2027 and promises a fifteen-year anniversary in 2024.
The event extension deal includes the return of the main IRONMAN race, as well as the Night Run and IRONKIDS – the family friendly run activities that take place on the Friday and Saturday of the race weekend.
The 2023 edition of the event is confirmed to take place on 2 July 2023. Priority registrations for the 2023 event will open on July 6, 2022, followed by general entry registrations on July 12, 2022.
