In 2018, Rapha overhauled its range of women’s chamois pads to ensure its bib shorts had a chamois pad suited to a specific type of riding. Since then, the company has updated its bib shorts, and, new for 2022, are the Women’s Pro Team Powerweave Bib Shorts.
For its new top-end Powerweave bib shorts, Rapha has developed an all-new proprietary woven fabric that is claimed to wick sweat quicker, dry out faster and stay lighter.
Rapha has redesigned its race-ready chamois pad using 5mm of quick-drying, high-density foam to create a narrower, higher-density pad that saves weight and adds stability for comfort.
For racing and training, the women’s Pro Team chamois features a seamless, pre-moulded construction to eliminate irritation and comes in two sizes.
Powerweave Bib Shorts are created from a woven fabric. This has resulted in a product which is 20% lighter than the knit used in Rapha’s Pro Team Bib Shorts. It is breathable and offers a high degree of compression. This lightweight fabric also improves temperature regulation, assisted by a jacquard weave construction that helps moisture travel to the surface and away from the body.
The new shorts’ construction features seven panels – 50% fewer than the Pro Team Bib Shorts – helping to eliminate irritation from seams and providing an optimised level of compression that helps to keep the chamois pad stable.
A new gripper features integrated, elasticated yarns woven into the fabric to add to the stable fit.
