Virtual cycling app MyWhoosh unveils new Australia world

Virtual cycling app MyWhoosh has launched its Australia world, Wollongong City, adding a popular cycling destination to its virtual platform. Expanding for the first time outside of the Middle East, the company adds that the new world is in response to the increase of riders from the Oceania region on MyWhoosh.

Situated 80km south of Sydney, Wollongong’s coastal location brings together city and climbs for Australian cyclists, and MyWhoosh has brought the area to its virtual world. A main loop has been adapted to create two other shorter routes, allowing riders to hit top speeds along coastal flats as well as virtual climbing in the hills.

“As we continue to expand our presence to Europe and now to Australia, this is another momentous moment for MyWhoosh,,” said founder and CEO of MyWhoosh, Akhtar Hashmi.

“We are constantly evolving, adding new courses and upgrades to ensure when using MyWhoosh riders continue to challenge themselves, their friends and even the pros. Whether you’re a climber, a sprinter, a time trialist or just want to check the world’s best cycling routes off your list such as Wollongong, with MyWhoosh you can do it all.:

  • Route 1: Wollongong City – total route distance 16.71km; virtual elevation gain 234m
  • Route 2: Wollongong City Beach – total route distance 9.44km; virtual elevation gain 76m
  • Route 3: Wollongong Mount Pleasant – total route distance 9.05 km; virtual elevation gain 161m

MyWhoosh’s free-to-use platform makes races, workouts, and social rides available to everyone, via Android, iOS, and Windows. Those looking to experience what MyWhoosh’s Wollongong has to offer can also participate in the community building weekly Australia social ride and can race for prizes when joining the midweek race series ‘Tune-up Tuesday’ (on Oceania time).
