Having recently confirmed a tie-up with parkrun, audio fitness app WithU has pivoted from a monthly subscription model to a freemium offering that allows users to access… ‘hundreds of workouts on the platform free of charge, forever.’
According to the company this latest announcement is part of its… ‘continued mission to break down the barriers to accessible fitness. The conversion to a freemium model will give a wider customer base access to high-quality fitness plans and guidance, a significant shift from the competition, where their content sits behind a paywall.’
The business noted that it has cultivated a dedicated customer base that is happy to pay for the platform. WithU is, though, keen to share its product with a wider audience.
‘Accessing free workouts at scale provides WithU members with the fitness freedom to figure out what works for them, giving them the opportunity to build confidence as they progress towards their fitness goals.’
WithU will retain a feature-rich, unlimited model for any (paying) members that work their way through the free catalogue and are left wanting more.
Steve Clarke, CEO of WithU, said “The move to a freemium model is pivotal in the growth of WithU as a business and integral to supporting as many members as possible on their fitness journey.
“Our Unlimited product will allow those who are looking to gain access the whole platform to do so, and our freemium offering will continue to break down the barriers to entry for many.”
The WithU app is available to download for free. WithU Unlimited is available for £9.99 per month or £79.99 per year.
